On November 13th-17th, 2017 prof. Givi Gavardashvili from Georgian Technical University, Ts. Mirtskhulava Institute of Water Resources (Georgia) under the program Erasmus+ delivered lectures at the Department of Environmental Engineering at Kaunas university of Applied Sciences.

The second and third course students of Geodesy, Agribusiness technology study programs listened to lectures on the history and culture by Georgia, about prediction of the Surface and Bulk Processes by means of Modern Technologies (GIS software and GPS technology), students were familiarized with dynamics of Origin of Washouts and Ravines and its Prediction using Reliability and Risk Theory and characterization and Prediction of Water Erosion using Hydrodynamic Models developed by Prof. Wishmeier, W.H. and Acad. Mirtskhulava, discussed of the flood of mountain rivers and the consequences for water reservoir constructions, about  geodetic instruments choice and application issues.

Also were discussed of student mobility opportunities, was pleased that two students of the Geodesy study program are going to study in Georgia on spring semester, while two students from the Georgian Technical University are welcome at Kaunas university of Applied Sciences.

According Director prof. to Givi Gavardashvili of Ts.Mirtskhulava Water Management Institute active inter-institutional cooperation is determined by the pro-active involvement of professional staff, the accumulated experience and knowledge and the willingness to cooperate.

Ecocentre of Environmental Protection (Georgia) led by prof. G. Gavardashvili and Kaunas university of Applied Sciences (Lithuania) led by dr. Mindaugas Misiūnas signed a cooperation agreement in spring on 2017, which agreed to carry out environmental research and environmental engineering activities, research, and participate in project activities.

Following the signed agreement and the desire to develop international cooperation, it was decided to prepare an application for an international strategic partnership project under the ERASMUS+ KA2 program. Focus on educational issues relevant to the Baltic and Caucasus regions and / or developing innovative products for education and training, distance learning methods aimed at increasing the attractiveness and quality of the technology, engineering study programs – that is one of the strategical goals by Kaunas university of Applied Sciences.
